Back of neck, hand-held

A tola 750 mounted on a Tola Rocker is shown, but a Wedge configuration is also appropriate. If you are able to comfortably rest your head in your hands while lying on your back, this is an excellent technique for applying dynamic pressure to the back of your neck.

  1. Hold your TolaPoint in your hand, then lie, to place your head on a pillow with your Point in your hand underneath your neck.
  2. Gently settle your neck onto your Point.
  3. Relax your neck, and use the weight of your head to generate the required pressure.
  4. For more pressure, push up with your hand, or use your legs to push your neck toward your Point.
  5. Important: When massaging your neck area, avoid putting pressure on your vertebral or carotid arteries. A simple rule is: never massage a pulse. Be aware however, that the pulse from your vertebral artery may be difficult to detect. Consult with your therapist or doctor if you are unsure.

A 750 on a Rocker is shown. Any of the Points would be appropriate.

  1. Create a convenient hand-held TolaPoint by mounting one of your Points on a Rocker.
  2. Place your forearm on a table, a bed or other raised, comfortable, flat surface.
  3. With your unaffected hand use your Point to apply pressure. Keep the palm of your unaffected hand open to reduce stress to your fingers.
